The EU-Green Agriculture Initiative in Armenia (EU-GAIA) project is part of the 2018 EU Annual Action Plan: Regional Development. The project is implemented within the framework of the EU-GAIA program with exclusive funding from the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), while the Austrian Development Agency is the main implementing partner of the EU program.
The following activities aimed at developing the capacities of the Food Safety Inspection Authority of the Republic of Armenia were implemented within the framework of the EU-GAIA program:
a) training of specialist inspectors of the inspection authority performing supervision in the field of food safety,

b) 10 representatives of the inspection body traveled to the Federal Republic of Germany to study the food safety system, structure and activities of the inspection bodies of that country.

The project also envisages the development of the laboratory capabilities of the "Republican Center for Veterinary, Sanitary and Phytosanitary Laboratory Services" SNCO, which is subordinate to the inspection body. The introduction of modern methods for detecting pesticide residues and technical support are also planned.
